Double Header weekend has arrived! After a string of rain outs the POWRi Align Pro Lonestar 600's presented by K&K Earthworks finally got a stellar race in at Heart O' Texas Speedway 34 Non Wing 600's and 12 Restrictor's checked in for the nights events. Night #1 of 2 has taken place in the books!
600's Heats hit the racing surface. Bush's Chicken Heat 1 - Chase Randall. Hyper Racing Heat 2 - Jason Tyer. Ultrashield Race Products Heat 3 - Wyatt Rector. Lucas Oil Heat 4 - Colton Corbin. Lil Tuck Truck Accessories Heat 5 - Weldon Buford
Restrictor's wheel out next. Bush's Chicken Heat 1- Dylan Still and Lucas Oil Heat 2-Chase Hyland.
B Mains rock it out. Giving the fans a slight taste of what's ahead. Top 16 in passing points have already locked into the A main event. The following top 4 from each B main will round out the field. B Main #1 Transfers - Jeb Sessums, Raleigh Shepherd, Mat McDade & Tim Ferguson. B Main # 2 Transfers - Jacob Barton, Clark Warren, Bash Ferguson & Wyatt Bruce.
The Non Wing 600's recieve the call. Time to strap in tight. It's time to attack the high banks. How good is each driver at reading a track. A track that's changing every race. The cars file onto the track. A 4 wide fan salute to thank them for coming out. Weldon Buford and Johnny Bolland leads the 24 car A- Main around to the green. Weldon Buford jumps out to an early lead. 2 laps in yellow is out. Cars spun in turn 3. The 30 Jacob Barton, 21b Justin Bates and 18w Wyatt Bruce all come together causing the caution The drivers start to find what works for them. The race is becoming interesting. Racing on the top side. Catfish on the bottom. These drivers are having to work hard, as the track was quite slick. Lap 10 Jacob Lucas gets around Weldon Buford in turn 2. He makes it stick. New leader. Yellow comes out. Revert back a lap. The lead is back in Weldon Buford's hands. Buford takes the green once again. Cars back to the bottom. The toppers are fading. Some still trying. Slide jobs are plentiful. Lap 17 Jacob attempts. He makes it stick & he leads again. Lucas holds em' off out front & grabs the checkers. All while on the back stretch of the white flag. Raleigh Shepherd and Kevin Johnson get into a slowing car and flip down the back stretch. Both drivers check out okay. Banged up and a bit dizzy, but okay. Lucas gives the crowd a victory donut. Parks his #57 ride in the Driven Midwest Performance victory lane. Where he picks up his $750 check & waves the Texas flag!
Restrictors, are you ready? Stephen Yates and Evan Spaulding lead them around to take the green. Dylan Still jumps out front. Chase Hyland is hunting him down. Hyland snags it & walks away. Still giving it his best shot. Timothy Watson is the man on the move. As well as Jayton Brown. Both moving through the field carefully & cautiously. Hailey Taylor & Wyatt Wilkerson bump sides. A nerf bar stuck in the tire & Wyatt Wilkerson has been called into the infield. Watson moves into 2nd. Brown into 3rd. Hyland spreading his wings out front. Checkers wave & Hyland parks his #5 ride in the Driven Midwest Performance Victory Lane! Collecting his $300 check & a smile of victory to go along!
